Tedson Motors Porsche from Croatia – NO1 attraction at the International NY AUTO SHOW

0

A red light went on in the central committee of Koenigsegg. The owner of the company called me personally and said in fluent Swedish: “Dear Leader Joe, we have a problem that only you can solve.” We are exhibiting 2 cars at the New York Auto Show and if we are not next to the Tedson Motors Porsche, it is as if we were not there. I turned heaven and earth, called Trump, but no one can reach Goran Turkic from Tedson. I’ll pay you as much as you need, just persuade him to put his car next to us.”

When someone says, “I’ll pay you as much as you need!”, it’s as if some goodness in me that fell into a winter slumber. The last time I was in New York was in 2019. at NY Fashion Week, and this year I returned to the scene of chaos where I happily partook (and was now ready to cause an even bigger stir), but this time the backdrop was for the International New York Auto Show, which was held at the Javits Center in Manhattan. One year you photograph good looking models, another year cars…, it’s a hard life.

I called Goran Turkic and told him in fluent Croatian: “If you pay a certain amount into my account, I might be able to arrange for your Porsche to be in New York at the stand next to Koenigsegg. It’s not a small amount, but it’s worth it.”

Mr. Christian Koenigsegg and Goran Turkic may pretend that this did not happen, but there is always their version of the story and the truth. At the end of the day, a picture speaks a thousand words.

When you go out, there’s a harsh yet accurate suggestion you’ll benefit from surrounding yourself with ugly friends as they’ll make you look more attractive. When you’re showing your car, you want the exact opposite. You want to surround yourself with the most attractive cars, because if people notice your petrol pet in the sea of perfection on 4 wheels, then you know you’ve done something genius, and that’s exactly what happened in New York. The Tedson Motors Porsche was one of the main attractions, if not the biggest attraction at the International NY Auto Show. I wish I was paid extra for this eulogy my powers of persuasion, but I’m not. I would also like to have hair, but I don’t, but now is neither the time nor the place for my traumas.

At the stand of the Manhattan Motorcars company, which is the distributor for Tedson Motors in the USA, in addition to the Croatian Porsche and Rimac Nevera, there were also Rolls Royce, Koenigsegg, Lotus, Bentley, Lamborghini and another cool car whose name I forgot because I am unprofessional in my work. The Best of The Best. There was no room here for poor people from the auto industry. So that it does not appear that I am making things up, here is the evidence.

Most people have heard of Tedson Motors as well as Madagascar. Now they are rightly asking: “Who is Goran Turkic and what exactly was he called in New York?” Who is behind him? What kind of Porsche is it and how much does it cost? Who can even afford such a car?” Through the counter-intelligence services of the CIA and MOSAD, I came across some confidential information about the young gentleman.

Goran graduated in physics from the University of California, Irvine, one of the most prestigious American faculties in the fields of science and bioscience. He drew and designed vehicles from an early age, and studying physics further helped him to understand aspects of mechanical construction, such as aerodynamics, thermodynamics, mechanics and thus further developed his interest in designing cars.

I also explored my artistic side, though mostly by drawing on the facades of my neighbors in the hood; however, I didn’t end up as a designer of luxury cars. Some people are really lucky in life.

I will quote Goran: “I developed my business career in a venture capital firm, real estate and energy, so that at a certain point in 2015, I would raise money for my first old school Porsche, a 1973 911T. I knew right away that I wanted to do something with this car, but as the prices of said examples started to skyrocket after I bought it, I decided that it was better not to touch that original example than to start with the so-called G series. I started from scratch. I bought a 1975. 911 on which I did my first restomod project which I call GRS and on which I learned a lot about restoration and vintage Porsches. I started drawing the Daydream in 2018 and in 2019 I scanned the original 964 and then we worked for a year on 3D modeling where it was necessary to transfer my design from sketches and drawings to 3D curves. After that, it was necessary to make the first milled components and add them to the existing car and then process all that and start removing the first temporary molds from the new design. It is a very complex project, and in 2022, the first Daydream was premiered at the prestigious Top Marques Auto Show in Monte Carlo, and Prince Albert II unveiled the vehicle, which is a huge honor for me and will forever be written in the history of Tedson Motors and Daydream.”

“With the first prototype, I ran off the road during one shoot and damaged 2 rims and 3 carbon components. We decided to do one lap at the sharp S-turn for the end and I went in at a higher speed and there was gravel on the road which is what the roads are covered with in winter which caused a loss of grip and contact with the curb which damaged the rim and caused the spin out. It was pure human error and my poor assessment of the road conditions, but such things are an integral part of this job. The car was soon repaired and this year we are planning a lot of activities for our 000 Monaco Daydream, which is currently being fitted with a hybrid component in order to have a test version of the strongest model for customers.”

Photo: @DearLeaderJoe, Flash.hr

“To date, I have developed everything by myself and financed it absolutely without the help of banks, governments and funds. There are over a thousand parts on this car that we had to make or redesign, and it was really a demanding and complex job. It was bloody and is still very challenging because the profitability of the vehicles is still not enough to cover all development, operational, salary and marketing costs (participating in trade fairs is an enormously expensive sport as it requires vehicle transportation, staff overnight stays, booth fees, construction the stand and the transport of the vehicle back) until the number of produced examples on an annual level increases to at least 8 to 10 vehicles per year, and my ultimate plan is to reach approx. 20 vehicles per year. For comparison, Koenigsegg currently produces around 35 to 40 vehicles per year.”

Then people wonder why our banks are failing. Do not follow this example. Borrow and support the banking sector. PS: The publication was not paid for by the Association of Banks, but if they want to donate a few euros/dollars, who am I to judge them.

“It is important to note that this is a very specific product for a special global clientele, who live in a different world compared to us. Once someone wrote in the comments of a newspaper article that he would rather buy 2 apartments for the value of one Daydream ($500 thousand) and solve the housing problem of life and that is absolutely true, I would too, but this is not a product for our economic circumstances or difficulties, this is a product for customers for whom millions mean nothing, who have collections of 20 to 100 cars and who enjoy them and invest in them considering that over the years they have realized that investing in real estate, stock markets and the like is quite risky and that investment in high-value cars has proven to be more resistant to fluctuations and recessions than any other investment, and accordingly they diversify part of their money into the purchase of new, very limited series of special cars. So they combine love with smart investment and operate in an economy that is incomparable to Croatia”.

“I sold my first car to a celebrity. He saw the car on Instagram and fell in love with it and decided to buy it. When I informed the dealer with whom I was negotiating about the dealership and when he heard that his customers also wanted the car, it only further confirmed his faith in the product and the brand and he decided to order the car on his own. The first American delivery was at the NY Auto Show to our Manhattan Motorcars dealer and owner Brian Miller, who wanted to buy the car to have a test vehicle based on which he plans to sell a larger number of vehicles on the American market, and the second delivery will be to our celebrity customer in the summer of the most prestigious car festival in the world, Monterey Car Week.”

I knew it was impossible to succeed in life without a dealer.

You are probably now interested in the technical specifications of this Porsche, but for that information you will have to read the column to the end. I think only the Bible has more text than this automoto report. When I think about it, this column is the Automoto Bible 🙂

Goran suggested that we eat something. I told him: Let’s go to that pizza cut at the fair. It only costs $20. Goran: “Okay, I’m paying.” I only heard I’m paying and answered him politely: “When I think about it, I don’t feel like pizza.” I really want to eat lobster.” He didn’t skimp. He took us to the Red Lobster in Times Square. Pizza for everyone, lobster only for the chosen one.

By the way, speaking of American food: If you like burgers, be sure to visit Five Guys. Great burgers. (For those whose English is not their strong point, it’s not about five gays, but about five guys. It maybe sounds gay, but it’s not gay)

Many will complain that I only write about Goran and Tedson Motors, and that I have completely forgotten about myself, and they will be right. Modesty and self-deprecation are my biggest flaws. Before I go back to the NY Auto Show, here are a few lines about my character and part.

Goran spent the whole day meeting with potential customers, and I returned to the Hyatt NYC Chelsea hotel, which is only a 15-20 minute walk from the Javits Center. If you are interested in the price of accommodation, I paid 2148 dollars for 6 nights with breakfast from April 5th to 11th. $358 a day for those who count every cent. The staff is TOP. American hospitality is something we in the Croatia can only dream about, but then how would they advertise Croatia other than as “The Mediterranean as it once was”

The hotel is in a great location. I was on the 19th floor. On the higher floors there is a perfect view of NY, but I recommend you to take a room as low as possible because you will have to wait a long time for the elevator during breakfast. I downed one of their craft beers and headed to dinner with a real estate queen in New York. Dear Leader Joe has Masonic friends everywhere.

Last summer on Hvar I met the divine Brazilian, Atalita Morais. She worked as a model, and now she works for the second largest real estate agency in New York, Brown Harris Stevens. I immediately told her that I was looking for something modest, up to 40 million dollars – anything beyond that would be a bit excessive. Besides, we’re in a recession and we need to tighten our belts. She smiled from ear to ear, like the Joker. She prepared me a Brazilian steak and introduced me to her friends who are wealthy enough to work with me.

The next day she took me to Hotel Plaza for a business meeting with her boyfriend from Italy. New York is a city for business. We agreed that I would do an interview with her and that I would throw myself into the promotion of luxury real estate and travel, hotels, restaurants, and maybe another project (marketing consulting, etc.). I should come to NY a little more often and take some money from those poor people.

The biggest surprise was the bartender Ivica, who is originally from Dubrovnik. Finally, someone with whom I could speak Croatian and exchange experiences about important things in life: Communism, war, religion…

After three bottles of champagne, we went to lunch at an excellent Greek restaurant – Avra Madison Estiatorio.

I also have to thank Loris for taking me to an artist’s party in downtown Manhattan, to a club reserved only for members and to the great restaurant Balthazar, which, Unlike ours, which closes at 11 at night, this one is open until 2 in the morning. A tear came down my cheek when I paid $60 for two drinks. Dollars in New York are disappearing like the memories of Joe Biden.

Lest someone say that my life is as exciting as Eurovision Song Contest, I’m going back to the NY auto show. Goran Turkic was crucified like Jesus. He was bombarded from all sides with questions about Porsche. “Is it electric?” Goran in fluent English “No, but we can make it electric too, if the customer wants it.”

After that, the monologue began:

“The entire outer body is made of carbon fiber, the suspension is significantly improved based on GT2 technology and proactive shock absorbers from the JRZ company from the Netherlands, which analyze driving parameters in milliseconds and make corrections on individual wheels according to road feedback.”

Daydream is offered in several variants and we are the only restomod company that offers more than one drive unit. Daydream can be ordered with an air-cooled atmospheric engine of 3800 cm3 and 4000 cm3, as a hybrid vehicle that combines a 4000 cm air-cooled engine and an electric flywheel with 150hp and KERS technology in order to achieve maximum performance, and with electric motors as a fully homologated EV vehicle. ”

Photo: @DearLeaderJoe, Flash.hr

“The greatest acceleration is offered by the Daydream R hybrid, which reaches 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds and is competitive with today’s supercars. As for colors, we allow customers to order in the so-called PTS (Paint to sample) variants and we allow orders in any color as desired by the customer.”

International New York auto show – Tedson Motors Porsche
Photo: @DearLeaderJoe, Flash.hr

“This vehicle is very different from the original, considering that it only retains the chassis and engine block from the original (in the EV variant, the engine block does not remain), the vehicle is made entirely of carbon fiber, has a significantly improved suspension, the vehicle is significantly wider and has the so-called cube track that ensures excellent handling on the track and turns and has a completely newly designed interior made of Napa leather, Alcantara, carbon fiber and milled 6061 Aerospace grade aluminum.”

International New York auto show – Tedson Motors Porsche
Photo: @DearLeaderJoe, Flash.hr

“The vehicle is on average 200 to 300 kilos lighter than the original, has 100 to 200 hp more and significantly improved aerodynamics, so that in addition to the progressive design that arouses emotion with regard to the integration of classic and modern elements, it also offers far better performance and driving feeling and that a complete set is the reason why our customers, who are mostly very wealthy collectors and big Porsche enthusiasts, buy these types of very limited series vehicles, which enable a very high level of personalization.”

“The Daydream project is a tribute to the original line of the Porsche 911, which represents the most recognizable silhouette of a sports car of all time and which is equally successfully recognized by young and old alike. Considering the above, many have decided to restore and reinterpret the original 911, and most of them, led by the Californian Singer, focus on the so-called backdate where restoration is done so that vehicles from the late 80’s and early 90’s take on the appearance of the original 70’s model. My idea was to do something diametrically opposite, and I call my interpretation “update”, where the original 911 line is analyzed from today’s perspective with regard to design, technology and performance.”

“Initially, the Daydream project was made on the 911 964 platform, which was produced from 1989 to 1994, considering that it represents the last original design, which in this model, although the design is almost identical to the previous one, except for the details of the bumper and sills, has been significantly improved with 85% new parts including important elements such as ABS, power steering, improved suspension, etc.”

“After that, I decided that the 993 platform was even better because of the rear multi-link suspension, an even better engine, a stiffer chassis and a significantly improved production process, and I decided to offer a bend of my Daydream model on both this evolved and rear air-cooled platform and we are the only restomod company in the world that offers its model on two different platforms.”

It is interesting that the car comes with a personalized car cover, keys, a set of so-called rally timers as a very elegant and expensive retro element of the interior, a set of tires and rims for the track, oil on the canvas of the vehicle that the customer ordered, and even the Croatian Factory Glasses ”Tvornica Naocala” made it possible to create personalized glasses for each owner by combining colors, materials, design and lenses according to customer wishes.

During the break of his “short” speech, Goran wanted to brag to me that he already had 4 interested buyers, but I told him that he had more important things to worry about. I couldn’t help but notice something missing from his venue, and then it hit me! I then explained to him that an NY Auto Show column without women is like Donald Trump without the wig.

Christer Hultberg, the transport manager for Koenigsegg, ran into me self-deprecatingly and said in fluent Swedish: “Come on, now that you’re mentioning the ladies, insert my picture and take a photo of the Lambo Jules with the Koenigsegg Gemera, but do it spontaneously like a abortion, so it doesn’t look like an obvious advertisement, to be more native. We also have to sell something, not just Tedson.”

At one point, there was a crowd at the stand. I thought to myself: I know I’m an influencer, but guys, now is neither the time nor the place… I’m working. Unfortunately, it turned out that they were not attracted to me, but to the sound of the Tedson Porsche. Goran got into the car, and the melodious sound of the engine echoed through the Javits Center and attracted crowds. Goran was as proud as Stanley Kubrick when he faked the moon landing. As if he wanted to tell everyone: “I told you it’s not electric.” Listen to this sound!”

The enthusiasm was also shared by the local police. They came with an arrest warrant, but fortunately, the team from Manhattan Motorcars solved the problem and promised to give Goran a sedative, after which this kind of incident will not happen again.

Finally, Goran told me to sit in the Porsche and publish the photo. I answered him: “So that people say I’m poor because I’m sitting in a car worth only half a million dollars? I will sit down in Rimac Nevera. It is 4 times more expensive than Porsche. I have to think about my reputation in rich people circles.”

It’s easiest to envy others: “It’s easy for him, he has…”, but it’s not so easy to take matters into your own hands and start something, to create something from nothing.

When you are a private person (self-employed) you invest everything you have and sometimes what you don’t have in something that mostly only you believe in, and everyone else looks at you blankly and asks: “Why doesn’t he find a real job?” What does he need in his life? If that idea was so good, someone else would have thought of it already. It will surely fail him”, but you don’t listen to voices from the side because you are driven by some crazy passion, an insatiable desire to prove yourself because you know that you have something that others don’t have and you see something that others don’t see. And it’s not a matter of racing for money, but of playing, creating something from nothing… More words of wisdom can be found in my column “WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE AN ENTREPRENEUR

Goran Turkic took a risk and created something out of nothing. This is just the beginning for Tedson Motors. The real show is yet to come. There are big plans for the future. In addition to the production of a certain number of new Daydream copies for contracted customers, it develops the so-called The Daydream Turbo and Daydream Targa Speedster, which will premiere next year in Monaco, are expected to be a big hit in the market.

He is also slowly developing some new projects with vehicles from other brands. It is still in the Top Secret phase, but I have learned from reliable sources that the next Tedson project will be on the Lamborghini platform and that they are developing something very special and that they expect every Daydream customer to want their new model.

Their ultimate goal is to build a Tedson car from scratch.

PS: I can’t say that I’m not proud to be from Croatia. At the car show in New York, I witnessed that among the biggest attractions were exactly 2 cars from Croatia, a small country that until yesterday was known for War, Dubrovnik, Nikola Tesla (Serbs will not agree with that), Luka Modric and a few other athletes, and now is known overnight as the country where some of the best cars in the world are produced

The time has come to return to the homeland. Some people are nervous when flying because they are afraid of planes. I am not one of those people. I was nervous because I was thinking about that envy. I flew with Turkish Airlines because the return ticket was only about 620 euros, and the service on their flights is top notch. Not a sponsored post. I paid for the ticket myself. I have, I can 🙂

Now let’s go back to that envy, Croatian envy. I’m not envious, I’m furious, furious at 10,000 meters above sea level. Where was Goran Turkic when I was modifying Porsches? I was simply ahead of my time. The market was not ready for such a genius, for such a revolutionary design and approach to car modifications. Everyone conspired against me. Nobody wanted Redneck Motors to succeed. It is difficult against the Communists. Now some will say that I’m making things up, that I’m lying, but the picture doesn’t lie. This is the pinacle of design and engineering.

PS2: You are probably wondering if the Dear Leader Joe bought one of the cars. It’s not that I didn’t want to, but in the end I still decided on Nike shoes. I bought two pairs, but I didn’t want to post my Air Max so as not to provoke poor people 🙂

PS3: Letters from angry readers:

John J: When will you publish more stories about cars that an honest worker can afford? Damn snobs!

Anna P: What do you have against poor people? Asshole!

Bill M: Communist fucked me too!

Steve M: Why are you lying about him starting from scratch? If it could be done from scratch, I would be able to do it too. Fuck you!

Jenny K: He calls himself Dear Leader!? What a jerk! Who pays you to do nothing and travel around all day? It’s easy for you Masonic members. Burn in Hell!
