Sponsors of the event were Arete Puro gin and Plata do vrata. Mixologist Ozana Domić, an ambassador for the Arete Puro brand and owner of the only cocktail catering in Croatia (New Order), was once again in charge of the delicious cocktails, while the musical part of the evening was provided by Eduard Kobeščak on guitar and singer Helena Novosel, otherwise known as a cartoon dubber, singer of the band Vroom and recently an actress at the Croatian National Theatre (ZASTAVA).

This time, Ozana prepared two current cocktail classics: Tom Collins and Gimlet, which further raised the good mood and eased the “tense” business topics for numerous guests.

Tom Collins is a legendary cocktail in which Arete Puro gin naturally and perfectly blends with fresh lemon juice, sugar syrup and soda water. The history of its name has several versions. Some claim that it existed as early as 1869, while others believe that its original name was John or Jim Collins, according to an old song. The most interesting story related to this cocktail dates back to 1874, when a “fun hoax” took hold in New York and Pennsylvania, in which Tom Collins was mentioned as a person spreading false gossip. To participate in the joke, you had to ask someone if they knew a man named Tom Collins. If they answered “no” in surprise, you would tell them that Tom was in a certain cafe spreading lies there – which would lead them to go to that place and ask at the bar for Tom Collins. Instead of the person, the bartender would then offer you a cocktail – which turned out to be an excellent marketing trick. Today, fortunately, you don’t need a trick to order this refreshing classic, especially good with Arete Puro gin, which delighted the guests.

Gimlet is another timeless cocktail that takes on a whole new dimension with Arete Puro gin – a fresh, balanced and refined taste, with the addition of freshly squeezed lemon juice and sugar syrup. This cocktail was made famous by British sailors back in the 19th century, when vitamin C from citrus played a key role in maintaining health during long voyages. Once a kind of therapy, Gimlet has become a true classic over time, immortalized in the cult book The Savoy Cocktail Book from 1930.
